Last Friday night while my wife was away visiting our daughter in Kentucky, I had a wonderful dream. I dreamed I had fallen asleep in the recliner (it is impossible for you to adequately detect the respect in my fingers as I write the word “recliner”). I had not slept for long when I seemed to have gotten a phone call. It was from my firstborn son, Doug, Jr. He told me that he and Kelly were expecting another baby and that the due date was January 29, 2009 and this was true even though their first baby (our precious Remi) was only thirteen months old.
The next morning, I realized that my euphoria was based on fact. He had actually called…and I am actually awaiting the arrival of yet another grandyoungster! Now…I wouldn’t want to brag (Would I? Would you let me get away with it?) but this means that, by God’s grace, all three of my kids are in full expecting mode at the same time…and by the end of January we will have three babies in the family all age six months and under!
This would bring the total grandchild count up to five! And it brings my spirit up to about Everest levels. I just had to let you know. I know we can’t always be on cloud nine…but it’s really a very nice place to visit. I am thanking and praising Father God for adding such precious arrows to our quiver. And I hope you too are seeing His good Hand in your life (even among difficult and trying circumstances) and that you are finding plenty of reasons to fortify your deep conviction that He loves you so much and seeks only and always your best interests. You are His beloved! And I am awfully fond of you as well.
