Out Of The Mouth Of A Baby
I saw an angel Monday night. She was truly amazing…a thing of wonder, beauty and joy! Her name is Adilyn Marie Oakes…my third entry in the world’s most beautiful granddaughter contest. But, of course, it is no contest at all. It’s over. Little Adi was 6 pounds, 11 ounces and nineteen and a half inches of pure delight. Her momma did a wonderful job of bringing her into this world. She was welcomed by her parents, Matt and Christi, whose hearts were overflowing at the precious gift Father God gave them that night.
Now…I happen to know that there aren’t many granddaughters who are able to talk on the very night of their birth. But Adi was speaking to me. She told me of Father God’s infinite wisdom and power displayed most recently in the knitting of her together inside her mother using wonderful parts from both her momma and her daddy. She was eloquent as she explained to me how great God is and how greatly He is to be praised. She spoke to me of love…of the love of God…of the love of two wonderful parents who welcomed her into their life of love which she gloriously changed that night forever…and of the love of grandmas and grandpas, aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom were so anxious to learn all about her arrival. She spoke to me of hope…reflected in her as living proof that God hasn’t yet given up on this old world, made brand new Monday night by her coming. She spoke to me of faith handed down from one generation to another to another. This faith shines in all the dreams of new parents for their little daughter and is reflected in newly energized prayers for her physical and, most of all, her spiritual welfare. Yes, she spoke to us with words that couldn’t be uttered, but which we understood in our hearts. For out of the mouth of our sweet baby, Adilyn, our God ordained praise (Psalm 8:2). And we do praise You, Mighty Father…Whose gifts to us are exquisite and indescribable…we praise You for Adilyn Marie Oakes. May You bless her to praise You with all she is, not only now in her infancy but throughout her lifetime.
Now…I don’t know how many angels can dance on the head of a pin (I don’t even know why they would want to do such a thing), but I know how many angels can fill the hearts of dad and mom (see picture) to the near bursting point of sheer happiness. Just one…a little one…their baby girl.
I wish you all could meet her in person…but for now you’ll just have to take my completely unbiased word for it…she is AMAZING!
