Seeing With Our Father's Eyes

Meeting Rilyn

Just wanted to let you in on a little trip I have planned. Lord-willing, Vicki and I are off tomorrow morning to Bakersfield, CA to meet this litte girl who is missing us dreadfully. Rilyn was born January 22nd, so she’s already had twelve days on the planet without her Poppa Oakes. This just cannot be allowed to continue!

So anyways…I’ll be off the computer for a few days. I’ll be checking in on your blogs though. I look forward to what He is doing in your hearts. You are His wonderfully creative masterpieces. It is a privilege to be sharing the journey with you. God bless you. Go with God!

    Gail

IT WAS INDEED A JOY TO MEET LITTLE RILYN. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL. SHE HAS RECEIVED A WONDERFUL WELCOME FROM HER MOTHER AND FATHER AND BIG SISTER. SHE IS GROWING NICELY. I GOT TO HOLD HER QUITE A BIT. SHE IS INDEED A WONDROUS GIFT FROM GOD. HOPE YOU WILL GET TO MEET HER IN APRIL, SIS. GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO US.

  2. You guys have a safe trip. Enjoy every minute of it.

THANKS, PAIGE. IT WAS A GOOD AND SAFE TRIP. OF COURSE IT SEEMED TO GO BY VERY QUICKLY…BUT IT WAS A BLESSING. RILYN HAS AN AMAZING GRIP FOR ONE SO LITTLE…YEP…SHE HAS THE TIGHTEST GRIP ON MY HEART EVEN ACROSS THESE MANY MILES.

Wish I would have the energy to go with you to see those sweet babies.
Will be thinking of you and the fact that I know you will throughly enjoy seeing those precious little grandbabies. I find it so hard to believe you now have 5 of those sweet little grandbabies. Doug, I know you never dreamed this day would ever come for you, but I am so happy for you and Vick. You both are such great parents and grandparents. Have a good trip. Love, Mom

YOU ARE RIGHT THAT I NEVER DREAMED SUCH A DAY WOULD COME IN MY LIFE…BUT, BOY, AM I GLAD IT DID. FAMILY LIFE HAS TAUGHT ME SO MUCH. I HAVE MADE AND MAKE SO MANY MISSTEPS…SOME BIGGER THAN OTHERS…BUT STILL…THE BLESSINGS OF THE EXPERIENCES GOD HAS BROUGHT ME THROUGH MY WIFE, CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN HAVE FAR EXCEEDED MY WILDEST IMAGININGS. HOPEFULLY, YOU WILL GET TO MEET RILYN SOON…AS OF NOW…THEY ARE PLANNING TO BE IN OHIO IN APRIL…SO GET READY, OKAY? I LOVE YOU.

  4. Take care and make the most of your time loving on those babies!!! even the grown up ones 😉

YES, SHERRY…WE ENJOYED EVEN THE GROWN UP BABIES. IT WAS A PLEASURE TO HEAR MY SON SAY TO ME, “DAD, WITH THE SINGLE EXCEPTION OF LIVING SO FAR AWAY FROM THE OHIO FAMILY, I COULDN’T ASK FOR ANYTHING BETTER WHERE MY MARRIAGE, CHILDREN, HOME AND JOB ARE CONCERNED.” SO THAT BLESSES MY HEART AND HELPS KEEP ME STRONG IN THE FACE OF LONG ABSENCES OF THEIR PRESENCE. OUR SON IS PREACHING THREE SUNDAYS A MONTH IN BAKERSFIELD. I GOT TO HEAR HIM PREACH. HE SPEAKS SO WELL FOR GOD…AND THIS ARISES FROM A TRUE HEART FOR GOD. SO…AS YOU CAN SEE…MY CUP OVERFLOWS.
