Seeing With Our Father's Eyes

He Loves Me! He Loves Me Not!

So, what is it that a daisy petal really has to do with romantic love? Nothing, of course! Just a child’s game…he/she loves me…he/she loves me not. Imagine the security of a relationship hanging on something so fragile…so whimsical…as the number of petals on a flower. But don’t you think the child’s game has become a metaphor for the way so many view their relationship with God?

Are we the beloved or the unloved? What is the evidence for either? Is it on again/off again with us and God? And can we ever know with any kind of certainty? Do we have to know? Do we need to know? What reasons can you put forward for the titanic struggle so many of us have with this?

So…I was just wondering…how are you feeling today? Do you believe and feel yourself to be secure in His love and in His grip? What are your reasons for answering yes? Why would you say no? What is it that really tips the scales for you on this vital subject?

Maybe you don’t have the strength to weigh in on this right now. That’s okay. That’s where you are presently. Keep checking back in…read what some others might say here. It could perhaps help. It might prove a blessing to you. And when you’re able…give us a word or two, okay?

When considering God’s view of you, how does your daisy petal count come out?

  1. Romans 8:32 sums it up for me…”He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” God is for us…God is for me. I’m an imbecile…chief of sinners (in my own eyes)…but I am compelled to judge all of life…its sin…it’s tragedies…all suffering…in light of the cross…and though my eyes and my heart may at times deceive me…the cross still stands. When the fog clears…I see it and I know He always been for me…and will always Be.

THAT’S IT! YOU WENT RIGHT TO THE HEART OF IT. PAUL WENT ON TO LIST OUR POTENTIAL ADVERSARIES…A VERITABLE WHO’S WHO OF ASSURANCE KILLERS AND INSECURITY MONGERS…AND LET’S US KNOW THAT IF WE ARE ASSAULTED BY ANY OF THESE POWERFUL FORCES, OR IF WE ARE ASSAULTED BY ALL OF THEM…IT WOULDN’T/DOESN’T MEAN THAT GOD DOESN’T LOVE US AND KEEP US AS HIS OWN. EVEN WHEN THE REASONS FOR DOUBTING ARE MANY AND WHEN THEIR VOICE IS LOUD AND DRONES ON AND ON…THERE WAS STILL A PLACE CALLED CALVARY IN HISTORY, WHERE THINGS CHANGED FOREVER…WHERE EVERYTHING WAS MADE NEW…WHERE GOD MIGHTILY DECLARED FOREVER THAT HE CHOOSES ALL WHO CHOOSE JESUS CHRIST. THERE IS NO VOICE THAT CAN OVERCOME THAT TRUTH. SON, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND IT THRILLS ME TO BE LIVING THIS LIFE IN THE SAME FAITH AS YOU, WHICH WILL SEE US THRU AND GIVE US AN ETERNITY IN WHICH TO PRAISE THE ONE WHO DIDN’T SPARE, EVEN HIS OWN PRECIOUS SON FOR US.

  2. Perhaps in times past ,this may have tugged on my heart strings at times. But if we believe Gods word to be true, we need to accept what it says and receive it with gladness.John 3;16 says For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have ever lasting life. Romans5:8 says But God commendeth His love toward us ,in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. I John3:1 says How great is the love the Father has lavished on us ,that we should be called the children of God !I think  some times God’s love may be beyond our comprehension, because we feel that we have to do something to merit His love. His love for us is amazing, all we have to do is respond to it.

KATHY, I AM GLAD THAT IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FATHER GOD YOU HAVE GROWN PAST CONSTANT WORRIES OR WONDERING WHETHER OR NOT YOUR SALVATION IS SECURE. I BELIEVE IT HONORS OUR FATHER FOR US TO ACCEPT AS FULLY AS WE CAN THE TRUTHS OF THE PASSAGES OF SCRIPTURE YOU LISTED HERE. OFTEN, AS WE CHRISTIANS EXPERIENCE OUR ONGOING SIN-STRUGGLE, THE DEVIL GETS A FOOTHOLD IN OUR LIVES BY WEASELING HIS WAY INTO OUR SUBCONSCIOUS WHISPERING TO US THAT IF WE WERE REALLY “GOOD” CHRISTIANS, WE WOULDN’T STILL BE HAVING SUCH TROUBLE WITH THINGS LIKE IMPATIENCE, ANGER, COVETING, GOSSIP AND ETC. IF HE CAN GET US FOCUSED ON OURSELVES AND OUR FAILURES, HE IS WAY DOWN THE ROAD TO CONVINCING US THAT GOD DOESN’T WANT US AND CERTAINLY COULDN’T STILL BE FORGIVING US. BUT THAT IS A LIE! THE ONLY WAY FOR US TO LOSE, IS TO QUIT! SO…YOU AND I ARE RESOLVED NOT TO EVER QUIT ON HIM AGAIN…RIGHT?! RIGHT! YOU AND I AND ALL OTHERS WITH WHOM WE HAVE ANY INFLUENCE WILL KEEP FINDING ENCOURAGEMENT IN HIS LOVE FOR US. WE DISCOVER THE GLAD NEWS THAT NO MATTER WHERE WE BEGIN COUNTING THE DAISY PETALS…IT ALWAYS ENDS ON, “HE LOVES ME” AND THE OLD RUGGED CROSS PROVES IT!

  3. There have been many times I have not felt like God could possibly love me and I let myself believe it for far too many years. I now understand that His love is forever and unchanging. I don’t always feel it. But when I don’t feel it I remind myself that God is greater than my heart when my heart condemns me. And my feelings are not the indicator of God’s love.

He has shown me over and over the last few years just how much He wants me with Him. He has worked through years and horrible dark days (my own and some for others as well) to bring me back. He put just the right people in just the right place at just the right time to make sure I saw the way to come back Home.

So “He loves me” is the only daisy petal there is when it comes to God. Aren’t we blessed beyond belief!?!

AMEN…ABSOLUTELY…BBB…BLESSED BEYOND BELIEF! I LIKE IT. I ALSO LIKE WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT OUR FEELINGS NOT BEING THE INDICATOR OF GOD’S LOVE. OF COURSE, WE ALL LOVE IT WHEN THINGS ARE BETTER IN OUR LIVES…WHEN OUR WALK IS SOMEWHAT CLOSER TO HIS IMAGE…AND WHEN WE ARE ABLE EVEN EMOTIONALLY TO FEEL HIS PLEASURE IN US. THOSE ARE GREAT TIMES, EVEN IF TOO RARE. BUT TO KNOW, AS YOU INDICATED, WHEN WE ARE UNABLE TO SENSE IT, THAT WE ARE THE BELOVED IS JUST SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL FAITH…A GIFT FROM GOD’S LOVE…THE GIFT TO BELIEVE. THE CROSS IS THE RESULT AND PROOF OF OUR FATHER’S LOVE…IRREVOCABLE…UNCHANGEABLE… ETERNAL…FORGIVING…REDEEMING…LIFTING…INSPIRING. WE COULD SING OF HIS LOVE FOREVER, HUH, SHERRY? THANKS FOR THIS VERSE YOU GAVE US. GOD BLESS YOU TODAY.

  4. I think that many of us grow up feeling like love is conditional and fragile. Whether they meant to or not my parents led me to believe that I had to earn love … or at least act a certain way to hold onto it. It turned me into a people pleaser … and really got me into some trouble in relationships. I didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings … I thought I had to act the way they wanted to deserve their love.

The best lesson I ever learned about God’s love is that it is not “if” or “because” it is ALWAYS. Calvary showed me that I will always have God’s unconditional love and that I will never deserve it outside of Jesus’ blood. His blood qualifies me for that … it covers me completely. For this reason I can know that I’m secure in His love and in His grip.

My feelings, at times, tell me that I need to stay stocked up on flowers just in case my petals don’t end with “He loves me”. Thankfully, I can look at that same flower and remember that He promised … the flower will fade, but His word is forever, and I have His Word that He loves me … forever
