Seeing With Our Father's Eyes

California Dreamin’

Just turned sixty years old. My wife pulled a bunch of tricks on me in order to accomplish a surprise party (I’ll plan to tell you about some of that another time)…but I still wasn’t surprised that I turned sixty. It came on the appointed date. My birthday really was full of blessings…greetings…gifts…time with dear ones. I am grateful for each one.

The one that really knocked me off center was going to the airport, ostensibly to pick up my daughter and two grandkids, and finding there, instead, my friend Rex Boyles, who made that long journey, sacrificed time and expense, to help me usher in old age. I can’t tell you what that meant to me…and what a joy for us to be together again for  a couple of days.

I’m mainly writing this little note to let you know that Vicki and I are off today to visit our California girls, Remi and Rilyn. You see…they are missing their Poppa something fierce. And if I don’t get to see them every so often, they get a little disoriented (or is that me). Anyway…won’t be blogging for about a week. Wouldn’t mind if you offered up a prayer for us. I love you folks. I am blessed to know you. I hope you feel His presence and His pleasure in your life this week.

What’s AARP? It sounds like the noise I make after dinner these days.
Thanks for the well wishes…and for The Christmas Box. I enjoyed reading it very much.
Hope to see you soon for another Brunch meeting.
I love you, John…you and all yours too!

  2. I hope that you have a wonderful visit with your beloved family. Be safe!

I am so glad that you and Rex got to spend some time together…I’m sure it was good for both of you!

Congratulations on the “milestone” birthday~May God rain blessing on your and strengthen your faith to equal your days.

Thank you, Sherry. I appreciate the birthday blessing. Was I ever shocked to see Rex at the Columbus, OH airport?! I can’t really describe what that felt like. But it was great! His friendship is to my soul like a gentle all-day soaking rain upon dry ground on a mid-summer’s day. I needed that. Don’t know if it did him any good at all, but it did me enough good for the both of us. He has loved me through all these years with a love so like Jesus’. I’ve never deserved it…but I’ve treasured it.
I pray all God’s best for Him…joy, peace, love, continued opportunities to keep helping others and for those in his life who will do for him what he has done and does for me.
      God bless you!
