Seeing With Our Father's Eyes

Be Glad

I am glad today! I hope you can be too. It’s not that there’s nothing to concern us…no troubles that plague us…no heartaches with an iron grip on us. It’s not that we don’t have entire lists of things like failures, disappointments, or loneliness that could cause us to be anything but glad. Our gladness would not be based on our feeling well or having plenty. Some of us may not be in that condition at present. I don’t mean we should have some sort of pep rally to get ourselves all pumped up with shallow optimism that has no basis in reality…you know, where we all stand up and say, “Okay now, one, two, three, SMILE!” and everybody  meekly complies. And it’s not that I think everyone should somehow just be happy whenever the preacher says we should be happy. I mean, “Who does that preacher think he is anyway?!” J NO! But still, I am glad today. My gladness arises from my faith…yours does too. Gladness may live in those with tear-dimmed eyes and pain-racked bodies.

May we consider the following Bible truths and allow gladness in our God to possess us over and over again.

My God REIGNS…“The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad…” Psalm 97:1

My God is my REFUGE…“let all who take refuge in You be glad…” Psalm 5:11

My God RESTORES…“the Lord restores the fortunes of His people…be glad.” Psalm 14:7

My God LOVES ME…“I will be glad and rejoice in your love…” Psalm 31:7

My God SAVES…“…let the people of Zion be glad in their King…For the LORD takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with salvation. Let the saints rejoice in this honor…” Psalm 149:2b, 4, 5a

My God CREATES wonders…“…be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create”  Isaiah 65:18a

My God REWARDS…“Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…” Matthew 5:12

My God FINDS the lost…“But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” Luke 15:32

My God is the FATHER OF JESUS…“…If you loved Me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.” John 14:28

My God WINS against all enemies and all odds and FOR all His people… “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” Revelation 19:6b-9

Now, can you, along with whatever else you have to think of today, think of any reasons to be glad in God? If so, join me in being glad today and praise His holy Name now and forever, come what may. This is faith’s privilege.
